Hi, I'm Nikki. Here's a little bit about me...

For as long as I can remember, clothes, colour, art and design have shaped my personality and coloured my dreams. I grew up styling and customising my Sindy doll’s clothes, pairing ball gowns with denim and turning leotards into boob tubes! As an academic child, my parents encouraged me to pursue a university education that would lead to a ‘proper job’. I chose architecture – the perfect marriage of design, science and social responsibility.

I graduated in architecture from the Glasgow School of Art in the mid-90s and I’m proud to call this renowned institution my alma mater. In retrospect, however, I missed my calling – fashion was my first love.

Now, after almost 2 decades building a career in business, latterly as a future trends expert with one of the UK’s best-loved brands, I’m turning my full-time attention to fashion. To say this is a dream come true is quite the understatement – focusing on fashion as a job feels like an indulgence, and it fills my heart with joy!

When it comes to clothes, my philosophy is simple: be yourself! I want to celebrate the power of the individual to express and experiment, create and craft, design and deconstruct the norm.

The ascent of women is sparking a newfound female self-confidence that we’re seeing reflected in the grades of our schoolgirls, the number of female business start-ups, the ruling political class and in the resurgent, feminist activism on our high streets and catwalks. This, along with my driving desire to create for a living, inspired my decision to set my fear aside, give up the day job and join the ranks of womenpreneurs and lady bosses who are changing our global business landscape.

So here I am: trends expert, businesswoman, writer, fashionista. I hope to inspire my fellow working women to be fearless in their fashion choices, free themselves from corporate colours and express their individuality like their life depended on it. After all, our time is NOW!
