Find a Dress You Love then STYLE IT YOUR WAY!

Just because you love a dress doesn’t mean she’ll love you back! When I first tried on this gorgeous monochrome lace dress from Zara, I was disappointed by the fit (too loose at the waist) and the lace trim collar (not dramatic or substantial enough). I even posted an IGTV where I style it up and talk about these points…

But after some creative thought, a little wardrobe-raiding and a needle and thread (yes - I put in a few stitches on this one), I’m in love with this dress again!

Clearly, the hat is quite a statement. It’s inspired by the Dior Resort 19 collection. I took a soft sash belt and stitched it into the inside of this hat to add a more unique twist to the look (very inspired by @the.fashion.following). For me, it adds real personality and style to the look. In terms of the neckline, I’ve added a Zana Bayne tasselled, leather choker to create that dramatic aesthetic that stands up to the hat, the leather waistcoat and furry bolero.

The dress itself was too loosely cut around the torso and waist for my taste. By adding this Zana Bayne black leather bodice (with a distinctly fetish flavour!), I’ve created a cinched silhouette and a tougher edge to this lace piece, that might otherwise have appeared a bit frumpy.

I’ve simplified the look, above, by removing the leather waistcoat and using its belt to nip in my waist.

I simply love the drama of the white embroidery against the black lace. It’s a sharp and striking dress that is at once comfortable, covered-up and chic!
